Generally you will know if you've had a bleed as you'll see dark streaks across your vision, these streaks will gradually disperse into a thousand little black dots that eventually disappear altogether, in some severe cases where the bleed doesn't disperse or the vessels continue to bleed then surgery is required.

I was always told by my Ophthalmology team to report any changes or bleeds so that they can get me in to take a look, if your under the care of your Ophthalmology Dept then I'd ring them up and ask for advice, failing that get your gp to check your eyes.

As for driving, well it goes without saying if your vision is badly affected then it would be unwise to drive until things settle down, hope everything works out fine for you!

Always best to get these things checked out. There is nothing to be gained by waiting. I had a bleed which showed in a black patch to the right of my central vision. It happened on a Friday and had to wait until the Monday to see ophthalmologist. The longest weekend of my life. It changed shape over the weekend and was barely noticeable by the time I went for my appointment. For me, the worry was far worse than the diagnosis. Had laser treatment a few months ago. Went for a check up a couple of weeks ago and tg all was well again. I hope you can get checked out soon. It is a very very scary thing. My thoughts are with you

Hi cbowman Sorry to hear of your eye problem. It's best to go and get medical advice from your GP or an Optician. There are a few of us who have had similar problems and it is very scary. Don't be alone, I understand how you must be feeling, but please try and get it checked out.

Take care, with best wishes
