Hi all

I was diagnosed T2 last year and my 1st retinopathy  in April 2011 showed evidence of some damage but not sight affecting. <- this was me with the drops in

just had the results of my annual scan (May 2012) and
"I am writing to inform you that your recent retinal screening result appeared normal'

I have tried calling for clarification on the use of the n word (normal) but what do you all think ?

- Can retinal damage be repaired/restored ?
- Was the 1st letter a 'standard response' to make me pay attention to my condition ?
- Does 'normal' = no change i.e. still damage present

I have a 'NON URGENT 30 minute annual diabetic review appointment' soon and I'll obviously bring it up but it's all very confusing

Yes some damage can be resolved itself!

So if they telling you it appears normal then it's likely that any damage you showed last year has resolved itself, as they compare your last photo with your latest photo..

Dylan I get this too when I attend my review, it's either 'normal' or 'unchanged'.

At your next consultation ask them to explain further as they should have the report back from your annual scan.
