See: http://www.diabetesnet.com/about-di...ions/eye-complications/background-retinopathy which is a US site but seems to have quite a bit of info on it. As others have said, you'll need to be monitored more closely - your GP should be contacted to see what safeguards are now necessary. Hope that helps.
