Hello - well 2 weeks on the small Dodecanese island of Symi and all went well. Here are some points just in case it's of help to others :-

1)Liverpool airport we're great and fully aware of pumps. I we allowed through and the pump was simply swabbed.
2)Great blood sugars all the way until we landed at Rhodes at around 1pm. Then they shot up to 14. I then spent the next 5 hours, whilst we were waiting for our hydrofoil crossing to Symi, struggling to get my numbers down. By the time we got to Symi at around 8pm they had come down to 8 so I was able to eat that night as normal.
3) The first 3 days required a temporary basal of around 130% from about 8am to about 3pm. After this my blood sugars or back to normal. A couple of days we walked a bit in the heat so I the dropped my basal to 70% which seemed to work fine.
4) I went swimming for the first time since having my pump fitted. No problems at all. I took no chances though and carefully rinsed my cannula set with clean water when I came out of the sea. The cannula plaster showed no sign of coming off either - Impressed. I kept my pump wrapped in a cotton scarf in my rucksack under a sun shade whilst swimming and always remembered to put the protective cap on it so nothing could get in and block the cannula.
5) Eating out was fine as they serve a lot of veggy dishes and it's not at all high in carbs. I did have a few glasses of retsina pre-meal and with with food (i hardly touch alcohol when I'm at home) and I only noticed a drop in blood sugars on the one night and that was the day we'd also walked a bit more than normal. I was very careful and did check my BSs more often than normal - I was merry more than drunk.
6) I didn't notice that the insulin became less effective with the heat either. The only precaution I took was to keep my pump covered with a cap or bandana during our walks out - it was hot too and over 38c on some days!! My set changes remained at 3 day intervals.
7) I did carry my usual spares of insulin pens (novo rapid and Levermir), double the amount of reservoirs and sets needed normally and a spare pump obtained from Medtronic.

So everything went well and my next trip abroad will be less stressful again having done it twice without a hitch.
