I used the regular pen and not the disposal ones and now I now that I'm going to be reusing the Reservoir for the insulin pump.
I have the Animas Vibe - and i was wondering if anybody reuses es the inset.... and if it's even possible.....

Why would you reuse the reservoir/cartridge?
Cartridge if you are not a big insulin user should last 6 days then you use another one.
Tubing the same change it when you change the cartridge
Cannulas are changed every 3 days for tethlon and 2 days for steel.

I do that but I then still end up with unused tubing that ends up being thrown out . This amount of waste really annoys me

insulin crystalises so you wll end up having problems. They are only fit for use once in a few days. If tubing is unused then yes, I chuck it in the cupboard and use it later...however its not sterile once opened.

I actually didn't even want to try the sets with single use inserters because of the amount that had to be disposed of
In the US you can buy boxes of sihouettes with no tubing If this were available then I would get one box of each which would save waste because I only change the tubing every 6 days. I just wish I could get this option from the supplier here. (not directly Medtronic, it's a rather odd system here)
Just looked on the Animas site and have seen that their 'comfort' sets come packed 5 with and 5 without tubing. That's sensible

i think roche offer that on the spirit, but don't think medtronic do. Suppoe they make moe money that way, robbing the nhs even more!
