My Hba1c has slightly gone up by 3mmol from 6 months ago. I have heard and read so much about 'reversal of diabetes' that I would like to give it a go and my mission is to start the 5:2 Fasting Diet (Dr Michael Moseley) and get as much weight off as possible within the next 6 months before I am due for my next diabetic review in November.

I would like to hear from people who have made a determined effort to lose a drastic amount of weight which in turn has led them to reverse their diabetes. I have about 5 stones to lose in total to get to goal weight.

Hi when i was diagnosed in 2004 i was given metformin x4 tablets daily i have lost a considerable amount of weight have halved the dose of metformin and hopefully when i go for my appointment with the nurse in July she will lower my dose again to just x1 tablet daily my diabetes is well controlled and i feel better my cholestorel is now in range also this has been acheived by following the slimming world diet and it was so easy :D :D

I am calorie counting and sticking to 1250 cals a day although I will probably start the 5:2 next week to speed up the weight loss. Someone I know lowered her BS levels within 6 weeks of starting the diet so I feel I too want to give it a go and see if it works for me too. I also do lots of exercise (gym and lots of walking as am a member of The Ramblers). I'm probably healthier now than I have been for years and well done to you for good control of your diabetes :)
