Type 2 Rice cakes

We expect him to need insulin eventually.

Then, respectfully, I would suggest that 'regular set amounts of carbs' may bring the need for insulin sooner rather than later.

My personal take on any grain is 'no thanks' - far better to have something with real nutritive value, vitamins and minerals - a slice of cheese and a tomato, with a green salad.
I just can't see how eating rice for no reason is a good thing. Type twos when unmedicated do not suffer hypos, we do not need carbs in our diet, it doesn't make sense to eat rice cakes.

Hi
Thanks for the advice to be honest when they found glucose in my pee in October I was 19 1/2 stone since then I’ve lost what I can I’m now 16 stone 12 and just had another round of bloods done last week, not had results back yet
I see the dietician in may,
I’m finding it difficult to know what to eat to lose weight and get my sugar levels down, at the same time.
I’ve totally cut all bread out apart from the odd slice of whole meal and that’s a biggy for me cuz I could eat 8 to 10 rounds a day, yes I love bread !!

I often have, and enjoy, rice cakes - Kalko make them in packs of 6 mini rice cakes covered in dark chocolate - 10g carbs per pack. I have tested them on a number of occasions so know that I am ok with them however others may find that they are too carby for them.

Yes I’ve had them .
I need to start texting after meals but all is up in the air in December just gone I had two blood tests done the first was 54 the 2nd was 68 the doc never gave me these results told me to keep going with the weight loss as I was losing weight and didn’t need any meds so I went away thinking all is good and it was just a bit of a wake up call , saw a nurse in March who gave me those blood results and said I was type 2 I was gob smacked to say the least !! So for those 3 months I was eating anything that could lose me weight it’s only been these last 2 weeks where I am trying to cut carbs out .

I have eaten rice cakes, it has got me stuffed how they can class them as food. It does not matter what you spread on them they are still a tasteless piece of foam.

I give the rest of a packet to a friends dog who would eat anything, it took awhile before he become friendly again. :***:

Meat, fish, green veg, eggs, butter, cream and cheese.
I was 23 stone on diagnosis now just under 15 stone. Still want to lose a bit more.
HbA1c all sub 30 for the past 2 1/2 years. Eating what's on that list mainly.
Give up bread it will not do you any favours.

They are disgusting. Arsenic has more appeal

I eat them too as they are GF, the dark chocolate ones are nice and for me, as a type 1, a handy hypo treatment.

Ryvita do Rye cakes plain and salt and vinegar flavour they are puffed like rice cakes and are much more crispy than rice cakes may be a better option for you

Bergen Soya and Linseed bread is a low carb one and many here have that it is available in most supermarkets

But they also are 66% carbs..so not great for a T2 diabetic to eat..

All I was told by the nurse bearing in mind she isn’t a dietician that as long as the sugars are green on the packet then it’s fine to eat and that’s what I’ve been doing until joining this site the other day and now looking st cutting carbs
