I greatly enjoy the Isles of Scilly Police Facebook page - it's written by the Station Sergeant and combines a pleasant wit and whimsicality with the occasional more serious item.

The Station usually has a resident (or semi-resident) cat, and recently it's been a waif called Rocky who, sadly, has now died. The post explains her background, and her suspected role in the Mystery of the Stolen Carp, but you really need to read it for yourself.

Highly recommended.

Bet the sergeant would hate a transfer to "The Met" or GMP:woot:

I suspect so :). Scilly is part of the Devon and Cornwall Police area, so I don't think that all of the officers based there are native to the Islands. I guess the main problem is that if you want to progress your career in the Force, you would have to accept a move to somewhere on the Mainland, eventually.

Mind you, from my perspective there's an argument for saying that if you want to move away from the Islands, to police somewhere like, erm, downtown Plymouth on a Saturday night, you may have got your career priorities wrong :)
