Rising blood sugar levels :(

Hi there,

Can any type 2's out there give me some advice?, im currently experiencing increasing blood sugar levels and not sure what could be causing it. HBA1C in January was 6.3 and all others have been around that mark, have been diabetic for nearly three years with no trouble up to now, have had a throat and ear infection which i have been given antibiotics for, could this be it? or is it just a case of needing more medication the longer you have diabetes? Hope someone can help im such a worry guts. Am on 2x500mg of SR metformin. Thanks to anyone who can advise me.
 
Hi dallas and welcome to the forum.

It is quite common for an infection to raise blood sugars so I would not worry too much. I am sure when you have finished your course of antibiotics and the infection has subsided things will get back to normal after a few days.

Hi Dallas, agree with Catherine. Infections can raise BG's as can worrying that BG's are higher than normal.
