Type 2 Rising test 9.7 tested 3 1/2 hrs later 10.8

When people who know nothing about the LCHF diet tell me I'm killing myself being on it. I was killing myself not being on it!
I tested my blood on rising and 9.7 breakfast of 2 scrambled eggs and cup of weak vanilla chai tea. Cycled to work (not far) and have been on feet all morning ( care assistant in care home). I wasn't able to test bloods earlier than 3 1/4 hrs later and was 10.8
Day 6 of LCHF
Shouldn't readings have gone down. Getting fed up!
 
Hi @berylc sorry to hear about your frustration with your bg. Some people's blood sugar goes up after exercise, and it sounds like that's what's happening to you. As you already know, if we test our blood immediately before eating and then 2 hrs after it gives us a picture of what that particular meal has done to our blood, otherwise many different factors come into play affecting our bg levels. That was a good breakfast you had carbwise and I hope that your sugars will be lower when you test before lunch. I feel your frustration! I'll often have a random high reading, especially after exercise, but then it drops an hour or two later.:confused:
 
Meter's are just not that accurate. The design specifications require an accuracy of plus or minus 15% of the real figure.

So if you had a bg of 10 mmol/l, the meter would still be acceptably accurate if it hit somewhere between 8.5 and 11.5 mmol/l
- and the variation can be up or down, it isn't a constant.
- adding in exercise and/or stress will make things even more unpredictable.

Also it can take WEEKS on LCHF for your body to settle down and stop throwing out random liver dumps.

Give it time. This isn't a short sharp race, it is a long slow game.

More walking up and down at work and tasted at 1.30pm and it's down to 8.6
Having mozzarella, cherry tomatoes and a small avocado (Forgot the olive oil). Pudding the remainder of my 'snack' 6 raspberries, Greek yogurt and cream. 1/2 square of grated chocolate (in fact didn't eat it all).

Back to work at 2pm and testing again at 4.30 when I get home. I've the DN next Tuesday and I'm refusing to go back onto medication until at least 3 months. I'm determined to give this healthy eating a good chance.
 
Good for you, it does just take a bit of time to get things under control. You're doing fine as far as I can see
