My daughter has just been put on the roche pump we were offered the omnipod the only bonus i think is that it has no tubing. Accuchek have a 24 hour helpline which has trained diabetic nurses on call who can give advise on dealing with the pump and are fantastic the after care is second to none and the pump also lets you change the basal rate hourly . Since being on it my little girl has had perfect sugars it take a while of 2 hourly testing day and night to get on the right basal setting but it has been worth it i recommened this 100%
Another one for the roche. May be a bit bias cause I got one but although tubing needed from what I've read it has alot more flexibility than others. Hourly basal rates, 5 dif basal profiles, and fully usable with/without the monitor. Also, on the occasions speaking to roche, very helpful and excellent customer service.
I've recently started on the Omnipod, and I am so happy with it. The pod can be placed on your stomach/hip/lower back/arm/thigh. It is waterproof up to 25m depth, so is great for swimmers. You can create 7 basal profiles, 7 temp basal presets, bolus presets, custom reminders and alarms. The system really is versatile, and fit anyone's needs. Some have commented about having to carry an additional device thinking the pdm only manages the pod, but this isn't the case; you get 2 parts, the pod and the pdm/bg monitor. If you were to leave home without your pdm, your pod will continue to deliver your preset basal. I can't comment on the out of hours customer service unfortunately, but have been advised that there are nurses available 24hrs in the event of an emergency. If you have any questions about the Omnipod just let me know, and I'll try to answer them.
