Am feeling kinda sad and happy at the same time today. My eldest son (18) has started his third year of college this week, my middle son (15) is starting his last year at secondary school whilst its my youngest sons (11) first day at secondary school today. It's brought a big lump to my throat seeing him dressed up smartly (typical scruffy boy normally) and going off to big school. My babies have grown so quick!

On the other hand no more "mum, can I have this/that/something to eat" throughout the day and better still no kids arguing and bickering with each other!!!

know what you mean my 3 year old daughter started nursery last week :( she is growing up so fast, but on the plus side she is mixing with other children and seems to be having a great time :D

Hi NicolaB70,

I can understand your and Nicola's emotional feelings at this time, me better half felt exactly the same.
I'm sure mothers naturally experience this period more acutely than men.

Let me tell you though, enjoy every aspect of your children's lives because the years pass by in a flash,
and before you know it, you're proud grandparents.....

I know, I've three children and ten grandchildren, and it was like last year we experienced the same as you. :D

So here's to you and your children's happy future life.

Best wishes to both of you, and your children.

So many mixed emotions Nicola. I know exactly how you feel. I can't believe my 'baby' is 12, 13 next month and has just sarted year 8 today. Where has the time gone, I look at this young person, she is the same height as me now, has grown up from my little girl into a lovely young lady............ and god help me, she will soon be a ....................................... teenager :eh:

All the best RRB

lol we have a 12 soon to be 13 yr old (nov) but I figure it cant get worse lol the other one is starting her last year at primary, I agree with the mixed emotions thingy, I love them being a little more independent giving me the odd break from childrens entertainer but then feel cheated when I get home and I get a passing "hi dad" as they egt on with whatever they are doing :) I don't have to worry about the grandparent thing though as they aren't allowed boyfriends until after I die

Than you all for your kind words. It turned out that my youngest had a great first day at his new school, made new friends and came home full of stories.

RRB, teenage years...good luck with that. I swear I've got greyer! Still got my 15 yr old son going through it and not looking forward to my 11 yr old being the same.

Andy. I know what you mean about the passing "hi mum/dad". My eldest son whose 18 more or less 'lives' in his 'pit'. It was once a case of only seeing him at mealtimes! He is slightly better now, he does sit with us now but he still has his nose in his phone, so that's something he's at least down here.

Best wishes to you all

Nicola
