i know as a t2 diabetic i have to cut down on salt which i have, but does anyone use the likes of low salt in moderation to help taste food or are you better to cut out adding salt all together.

Try cutting down and adding herbs or spices to your cooking. Low Salt is OK, but again don't use it by the bucketful

The usual table salt is terrible stuff. Lo-salt is much lower in sodium (the bad stuff), but is still not great.

REAL salt is actually very healthy - it's full of minerals that are very god for you. By real salt I mean:

Celtic Sea Salt
Himalayan Sea Salt

Both are packed with minerals - and are much less bitter than table salt. Do your own research - but I use Celtic Grey Sea Salt. Very mild flavour - very nice in your cooking.

and note the warning from their own website
Too much potassium can also be harmful, which is why people receiving medication for diabetes, heart or kidney disorders should consult their doctor before using a reduced sodium salt
particularly important if you have neuropathy, kidney problems or are taking certain blood pressure medications (eg ACE inhibiters like Ramipril)

Quite!

Only a fairly small percentage of the population are actually sodium sensitive, or so I believe. Increasing potassium rather than decreasing sodium may have more effect in the rest of us

BUT

there are a number of drugs potassium reacts with, certain BP meds and certain diuretics (others are safe) so READ THE SMALL PRINT!
