While I was in hospital I decided to check my BS on my old monitor/meter and then see if it was the same on the new one the gave me. I pricked my finger and used the same blood on both test strips on each machine and got two different readings....why? by all accounts it shout of read the same on both....however there was a discrepancy of 3 units more in the new one I got off the hospital. Also what if any is the best/most accurate BS monitor available.

bg meters can be +/- 15% out in their accuracy, so your very unlikely to get the same reading twice. Not sure which is the most accurate, I've always stuck with Acccu-Chek meters although I did change to the Contour Next for a short time, both are excellent meters.

if you look at the instructions that cam with the strips, they will have the %number of strips that fall in accuracy bands
you can then check other strips if you want by googling their strip instruction sheets pdf

fact is from what I've seen, they are all within a couple of % of each other.
