Hiya has anyone else tried having certain foods at different times of the day and got hugely different readings? I love cereal mini shredded wheat however diabetes didn't especially in the mornings it was spiking from 6-12.5 in an hour! Anyway I tried it this evening at 7pm and tested after an hour and it only went from 5.5-7!!! Well chuffed I can still get my fix every now and then if I have in the evening rather than mornings x

Morning can be notoriously difficult to get the hang of, a lot of diabetics appear to more insulin resistant in the mornings and often experience higher levels on waking than at other times of the day, and less tolerant to carbs, I found it extremely frustrating as diet seemed to make little difference controlling my morning readings

Mornings are not good and it's just typical isn't it as I could eat like a king in the morning, hungry as soon I wake up! I've been having one slice of toast that's seems the limit in the mornings, can't face eggs that early, but very pleased I can still have some cereal every now and then I don't feel so deprived. X

How about natural yoghurt? The greek yoghurts have low carbs and sugar, and make for a nice breakfast, i could kill for a slice of toast in the morning, sadly though toast would more likely kill me long term lol

Yes, different foods at different times of day make a difference.
I eat avocado for bf, no other carbs and just a small thin slice of deli turkey. I take 3 times the insulin for this as any other meal. If I ate that for lunch or dinner I would be very hypo on 1/3 the insulin. Indoneat the avocado at lunch and dinner but I need more protein at lunch and more protein and veggies at dinner with 1/3 the dose at bf to avoid hypos. I also continue to rise in the morning. Need a bolus an hour after I eat to stop the rise. Sometimes another two hours later. Different foods at different times of day DO matter

I can eat 40g of carbs for breakfast, sorghum cereal with whey portein mixed in. 3 eggs scrambled, a small amount of chicken, nuts, coffee (Black), glass of water with a tblsp of apple cider vinegar, my usual vitamins etc and have a reading around 7 at the 2hr mark and 5 at 3 hrs.

Breakfast time is the best time for me to eat carbs, dinner time is the worst. 50 - 60g of carbs a day seems to work for me, but as you can see... it's a timing thing. Individual variability.
