Had my first nurses appointment this morning, my feet are 100% perfect. Blood pressure was a little high, so she made a note for DN to check this afternoon when I go back and have my first visit to her. It took 5 goes at the pressure monitor to work to get a reading. All my urine tests came back good. :D

Ok so been to the DN this afternoon, she was nice enough. She started by saying that after looking at my files she may think I am a type 1. So I told her that mum and dad had diabetes and my brothers got it. And then whipped out my iPhone and showed her my levels for the last 2 weeks, showing for the last few days as 5.8-6.6 and she said fair enough type 2.

Tole her that I was low carbing and losing weight, she said straight away I should be eating more carbs and eating 2500 calories a day. I said I am doing it like this now in order to get my levels down quickly which they have. I think she was a little stunned and impressed that I had got it under control like this so quickly.

She advised to take an additional Metformin in the evening meal, as this helps the insulin in my pancreas attack the cells better and the obvious heart benefits.

I then mentioned about test strips and lancets and she advised that I should be doing 1 per day for a few more weeks then 1 per week and not to worry about doing it every time after meals etc, but argued in favour of doing it more cos it helps, but she was not a fan. Regardless of this I mention my doc said I could, so she wrote up a repeat prescription for test strips and lancets :D

All in all, she was very happy with me and had nothing else to say other than book eye tests, etc.

So very happy at the moment.

:D :D :D

That sounds like a pretty positive visit to me - well done! Few of us are lucky to get strips on prescription, so hold tight to your GP, I know I plan too. I get all my tests covered a day as well. My GP asked how many times I test, I told him and he gave me the OK. Rare breed our GP's

Well one Scot! Success breeds success, so good results got your strips. Continue to confound them with your success!
