Hi,

From what I know it’s an update to the existing app to accommodate the 2+?
I’ve got the update but it still works with Libre 2. (Which I’m still using.)
I’ve had no issues.

If you are just scanning with the phone & app?
You do need to hold the NFC aerial longer to the sensor giving it longer to transfer & fill in the data..
Making that 3 note triad tune & showing the latest number..
Say I hadn’t scanned for a few hours..?

Which is why I prefer the BT connection to my phone after initial set up..

If the sensor is started with the reader? I don’t think it will register with the phone & app..?..?

Lol, my surgery notified & changed my prescription 5 months ago to Libre 2+.
I was assured also it would work with the app via text with this notifacation.
No problem.

But the chemist still issues Libre 2s.
Oddly the Abbott app’s new build suggests my L2 sensor will finish in 15 days on my phone..
Even the 3rd party app I use puts an end date in my diary to the hour started to the day after the L2 actually ends..

Still no issue. I remember “bin put out day” every 2 weeks..

does ur chemist reorder them for you? perhaps they tick the libre2 box rather than the libre2+ box and both maybe listed on the repeat ?

my repeat has both novarapid and fiasp for insulin.. (bear in mind im using NEITHER at present) also have both toujeo and humalin even thou never picked up a humalin prescription - and currently no longer take toujeo either (short term will be back insulin after honeymoon period ends).

It’s a sort of “batch repeat.” Ordered directly from the chemist?
I get a review from time to time? “Are you still needing insulin?” Yep.. “OK, lovely cheers!” Lol, they always seem embarrassed to ask?
I had a text notification of a change to L2+ almost insistent in tone it would work on my app & phone then my prescription was amended at the same time.
I’m not that bothered they still give me the L2. It has always worked great for me..

I feel if the Abbot reader works for you.
Then don’t change what is comfortable with your lifestyle.

I’ve always carried my phone. It’s just “there” in a designated pocket? (I’ve never had a reader. But what I know is once the sensor is tethered to a device, it won’t work with the other?)
It sends my BGs from my phone to a smartwatch too. (Though, my watch can also pick up the sensor without the phone.)
The watch is what I reference rather than pulling out my phone.
Unless I’m logging my insulin dose with my NFC enabled Novopen..

What I do know is my phone will upload the data about every 20 minutes to “Libreview” online for any carer or DSN?
I believe the Abbott reader needs to be plugged into a USB port to do so?

I gave up taking reading on my Samsung phone as often didn't connect unless it was in the exact spot. Also no good through layers of clothing like when you are out and it's cold and you would definitely not want to take your coat off. My monitor works every time. What's not too like!

I wouldn’t disagree from what I’ve seen that the Abbott reader does seem to have a “Jedi waive” like further field NFC scan in it’s favour..

From my observation. Most phones have contactless pay apps (little like bank cards.) so security wise, I found all the phones I’ve used in conjunction with the libre (Samsungs.) have needed to be placed directly where the NFC arial is. Even my Novopen has a precise spot on the back. (But then my phone is also in a case with a dirty great metal tab dead centre for a magnetic phone cradle on the A pillar in my van.)

Though, to be fair I rely on the BT connection after initial set up since the L2. Previously I used a Bluetooth bridge to act as a CGM on the L1..
With the L2 the only time I get a drop out with either an NFC reading or BT connection is with rapidly moving BGs.. But that’s normal & can frustrate some users. (But then, that’s what a meter is for?)
Then it reconnects once the sensor has chopped sense into what my interstitial fluid is doing? Which tends to be roughly 20 minutes of blackout. (At most.)
