I was diagnosed back in February, type 2 and on metformin. Since then I have suffered severe anxiety and depression and am antidepressants and having cbt counselling. I have been off wwork for four months. My diabetes took a back step whilst I was in the grip of the depression and I wasn't controlling my diet well, eating alot of cake and chocolate. I don't know what to do now. My anxiety has heightened.

Hi Alison Louise,
Sorry to hear you're having such a challenging time emotionally. Although it must have been a dreadful shock to receive a diagnosis of diabetes, as you will discover from the great people on this forum, it can be managed successfully.
Knowledge is power - try to learn as much as you can about the condition, and it may help you feel more in control of your life. Unfortunately high blood sugars, or fluctuating blood sugars can impact on your emotions - it could be that your emotional state is actually being influenced by your health at the moment too.
One step at a time, one meal at a time, one day at a time.
Sending you positive, empowering internet vibes,
Bx

Thank you Bebo321,

I have been very off track for a few weeks. Felt ok, then when I started eating properly again that's when my anxiety got me again. I now all the effort to get better has to come from me, but it's such a struggle. X
