I was diagnosed at the end of March and was put on a diet plan only. I am meant to be go back in next week and i know i have lost hardly any weight or if any at all since then. Will they make me go on meds? or can i opt to not take them? I know it no excuse but i have been trying to eat healthier without following any plan and i am happy that i havent gained weight. But i do not want to go on meds. any help please?

there is no reason you can't go onto meds and then stop them when you have your diet and BG sorted out, the main thing at this point is to get your BG blood glucose down Isn't it?

'They' cant make you do anything you don't want to. However what have you been eating? Its not just about your weight its about your blood sugar levels. Do you have a meter? Have you been exercising? And what was the result of your AbA1C?

Can you tell us what the diet plan was? If it was provided by an NHS dietician or even any other one it may not be the best. Did it encourage you to reduce all carbs rather than worrying about fats? Hopefully the right diet will do the trick, but if not don't worry about Metformin tablets as it's a good, safe drug and does help reduce blood sugar if overweight.
