Hello

I have posted a number of times on here about my sciatica and have just got back from my 2nd lot of physio...which was more like my first as it was a different physio and completely different exercises! Anyway she tested my reflexes....and I have none in my ankle....should I be worried?? she said not to be but i am still

Hi Nicola,

Your physio is right, it is too early to say what the outcome will be.

Put simply, the nerves in a particular region of your spine that travel to your ankle are being compressed by a protruding disc and the physio is being used to help release that nerve. It does take time and you may find it painful but in 90% of cases, the nerve is restored Some people end up having surgery but it is too soon to say if that will be necessary for you.

If you are prescribed any exercises and dos and don'ts then do follow these instructions as they will help too. Are you still taking the painkillers?

You are so young to experience all this pain and I do feel for you.

Take care and ((((hugs)))) for you.

I guess that is true, she just looked so worried when there was nothing there and then she quickly did another test! and kept mentioning about whether I had had an xray...which I have it is just the MRI results I am waiting for!

Haven't taken the painkillers in ages because they have never helped! :( I think I will mention it to my orthopaedic when I see him on the 25th maybe he can give me pain relief??

They say it comes in 3's....certainly doesn't for me lol!

I will get there eventually! x
