Is Sciatica caused by type 2 Diabetes? I’ve had it for well over 2 years On my right side and it seems to be progressing Up the right side of my back. I’ve recently pulled something in my right buttock that got worse and caused painful Spasms that took my breath away when standing up after bending
 
I don't think so, having never heard the two of them linked. However I had a bout of sciatica (my first and hopefully only) just after I was diagnosed as T2D.

Unfortunately most drugs they prescribe for Sciatica relief are opiates and they have no painkilling effect on me. So I had to go through the palaver of needing to get pregabalin for the pharmacy (it's a restricted drug). So I was in excruciating pain for several days.
 
I do suffer with siactica, however whether it's linked I'm not sure. Only thing that helps for me is seeing a chiropractor.
 
Hello, I think it would be worth you checking with the doctor - my sister thought she had sciatica and it turned out she needed a hip replacement (she is 65 though)!
