Anyone knows what is the protocol for a doctor giving me a clearence to do a scuba dive course?I went to see a dive doctor yesterday in Sydney, even having a Hb1Ac of 7 he said I couldn't dive!
Im type 1 for 11 years, bike everywhere, exercise and control my diet with LCHF-Im also an acrobat and trapeze/silks teacher!

Hi @CloMudrik Welcome to the forum, I think it's the diving schools policy based on their insurances rather than being given clearance by your doctor. Try some other schools and ask for advice ? Also found this interesting article: http://beyondtype1.org/scuba-diving-with-type-1-diabetes-you-can-do-it/

I got my PADI before being diagnosed with type 1 and personally believe it shouldn't stop you but it is down to the school and their policy on this.

Australia's difficult. You can dive with PADI in most places as a T1, but (based on what I was told when I was in Australia a long time ago), as a T1 they won't sign you off medically following issues that they had with a couple of T1s dying whilst diving.

It's apparently not about whether you're fit to dive, but rather the bad PR that people dying has!
