No it's not been in sunlight it's been in my bag and it's no hotter today than it has been all summer. This happened a few hours ago and it's not started working again yet....but thanks, I will leave it alone for a few hours and try again later! If so, it is possible that it has got higher than outside temperature.
A couple of caveats before I go on:
- I do not have a SD Codefree meter
- The temperature related error I saw was when it was too cold after a winter walk.
That said, if you can find somewhere cool (but not too cool) to put your meter for a few hours and try again.
Your experience is similar to mine and it sorted itself out when the temperature was back to room temperature.

Thanks, I took the battery out left it for half an hour but sadly no joy. I've just ordered a new one.Before you declare it's demise, you could try taking the batterry out, giving it a decent ignoring for 10 minutes, then battery back in? I have zero idea if that will work, but if it's heading for the bin, it can't hurt?

There's no need to complain - if you just ask nicely they normally send you a new one - they di with mine.Not sure how old it is but remember your rights in the UK. If under a year old definitely worth complaining to retailer and if no joy, the manufacturer.
Thanks @bamba I took your advice and called them, they straightaway said my meter probably won't work again ever, asked how old it was (18 months) and just said that's fine we will send you a new one! Just like that! I've left my order in place so I will then have a spare. Remember, they won't get any more orders from you for strips if you switch to a different brand.
