SD Codefree meter

Amazon sell consumables for the SD meter. I sent mine back as it gave silly readings.

Just calibrated mine when I did my latest lab test... happy with the results, both my wife and my readings are within + and - 5% of the lab results...

I really lkie the codefree meter, I don't like the lancet though, I am using the cartdridge 6 shot that came with the Aviva, (but I am also a lucky one and get free prescriptions for strips and lancets), so my codefree is for extra testing and backup.

I dont like the lancet either, so I use the one which came from my Glucomen meter. I can only use the glucomen meter for 10 days a month as I get 50 strips a month, so I use my SDCodefree the rest of the time.

I was never told of how many I would get per month, but in the last 3.5 weeks I just picked up my 2nd 50 pack, technically it is a new month. Will be interested to see what happens if I need more before month ed.

I get 1 a day for my fasting level. And an extra 20 to test after 1 meal a day 4 times a week.

But my DSN wasnt interested in the results last month.

I get all my tests covered. A FBG pre lunch, dinner and supper, then +2 all three meals. It's good to see you are getting strips, but 50 a month is just no good. I go through 70 every 10 days. Why can't we all get strips and sensible amounts? I know I sound like I am never happy, but honestly 50 a month is no good to me, nor I suspect any real good to you two?

I can easily go through 7 a day so that 49 for 7 days, so I would need 196 for the month.

Exactly, so what is 50 going to do? I know it's 50 less for you to buy, but for people who can't afford their own strips, is a bit mean. I suspect I will loose my strips soon, and if I do, will just have to buy my own again. It's been nice getting them on a script, but I do see it ending or being reduced pretty soon.

I will see how mine goes, my doctor was happy and impressed I attacked it with full force to get on top of my levels, so maybe 3-6 months maybe. If my hba1c or how ever those letters go get to a great level then maybe will change! Dunno will wait and see. I know the DN would stop it tomorrow but my doc overrode her

That is kind of my situation. My GP agreed strips until I have my HbA1c and if it is under 6 I loose the strips. I am expecting my Hb to be in the 5's, and I have the blood test June 27. We shall see.

That's great if it is, but also a little annoying as doing so well to get your levels down only to then lose strips which helped you in the first place, if they creap back up but the blame on no strips....

My GP really is one of the better ones, so I am going to try to convince him to keep prescribing them, even at a reduced rate. He will help diabetics who help themselves, hence why I have the strips now.

If you get the 50 strips from the site www.homehealth-uk.com, they're even cheaper at £6.49 inc. postage.
If you get more packs, they're even cheaper as you only pay the same £2.00 postage
It is also easy to zero the readings on the meter by holding down the two arrow keys simultaneously until the dispay shows 4 bars.
That isn't mentioned in the instructions.
Something I can't do on my Nano (without removing the batteries for 72 hours).

Thanks for the tip on how to zero the codefree Micronair. It's a shame that other manufactures can't reduce their prices to more realistic levels.

Re: SD Code free metre

I have this meter and it is fine. No anomalies so far. And I can afford to test as often as I need to.

Defren:

I havent tried eating mine yet
Thanks Lucy - first laugh I have had for a few days - Rob
