Type 2 SD Codefree tester

I have a Codefree glucose tester and I seem to be getting conflicting results . Today for instance I took a reading approx 2 hrs after lunch and I got a reading of 9.5 which I thought was high, ten minutes later I took another reading and it was 6.6. I always use the middle two fingers of my left hand. This seems to happen quite often and I am wondering if the tester is faulty or am I doing something wrong. Has anyone else had problems with these meters . I am type 2 by the way. Help!!!!
 
I recently bought myself a SD Codefree and it is useless IMHO.

Yesterday it gave me a lower reading after 1 hour than it had given me for my FBG.

Yesterday afternoon when I hadn't eaten for over 4 1/2 hours it gave me 6.5, so I tested with my Accucheck mobile as I knew I wasn't that high and it read 4.3 on the same finger.

It's cheap, and you get what you pay for.

I might sell the rest of my strips on E-Bay and go back to a more expensive but more accurate meter.

I've been using Codefree for almost 2 years, and aside from one lot of strips that were very erratic, it has been great value for money and accurate enough for me. If you think there's something wrong with your meter or strips, I suggest you contact the distributor.

Just checking @Keith1945, what did you clean/wash your hands with when you tested both times? Sometimes the prep can make a difference to your readings. Was it soap, hand wash or alcohol wipes? All can potentially effect results. Just a thought? I had a code free and have found it reliable and comparable to my other metre just a lot cheaper! Sue x

I would have put my life savings on you giving that answer!

Batch ending 20 has been giving me (and a few others) a lot of frustrating readings. It seems to be mainly this particular batch for some reason. I suggest you contact Home Health. They are very approachable. Other batches have been OK with an odd exception. I've been using Codefree over 12 months.
 
Hi Sue did not wash my hands between the two tests and had used a antibacterial hand wash which I always use. Keith
 
Checked my other Boxes of strips and lucky me has another 200 with batch numbers ending 020
 
Very interesting that others are experiencing the same thing with batch 20. There could just be a general fault with the whole batch. Other batches haven't been so much of a problem. Home Health are very approachable, and will also be interested to hear from people.
 
I started out with an Aviva Accu Check blood glucose monitor and like it, especially the fastclix finger pricker.But due to the patchy supply of strips from my G.P. and the cost of strips that I have to buy,I bought an SD Codefree meter.
Over a test of 50 joint readings from the same drop of blood the average difference for me has been + 0.3 higher with the S.D Codefree.I have noticed that any difference is more pronounced the higher the readings.Consequently as my readings have come down the difference between the two meters is marginal.
I also think that as none of the meters are especially accurate and we should be looking more at trends then the S.D is good value.
I will continue to compare results until my G.P. decides it will be better for me to guess my blood sugar levels and stops my supply of test strips.I expect this imminently!
