Second opinions

I thought I'd share my experience in case it might help anyone.

Briefly I was diagnosed type2, 2 years ago and I regularly monitored BG levels which ranged from 9 fasting to 19, 2 hours after eating. I generally felt ropey and regularly discussed this with my consultant who maintained I was type 2 and nothing further would be done.

Cut a long story short my GP referred me to a different hospital and obviously a different Consultant (really nice bloke who listened) who looking at test results, HBA1c etc put me on insulin (lantus) immediately. My BG are well down and I feel like the lights been switched on.

The moral is (if there is one) if your not happy don't be afraid to ask for a second opinion, Im not saying everyone rush out and change consultants but if you don't feel like theres been any improvment then maybe its time to ask questions.

Like everywhere in life there's good mechanics, average mechanics and mechanics who I wouldn't let change the belt on my hoover.
