TBH if your cholesterol levels are fine you shouldn't need to check your levels any less than 12 monthly.

Not as far as I know. I was never told and never asked. I just noticed a lot of people are listing their cholesterol levels so though I should check mine.Excuse my ignorance here but I don't know your diabetes history, did you not get your cholesterol checked as part of your diabetes review?

To be honest I prefer to do things myself. Im not sure about the accuracy though.I thought at the least they would have given you your Total Cholesterol figure. Testing cholesterol comes under the 15 point care plan that all diabetics should receive:

I would ring your gp surgery and book an appointment to have your cholesterol checked, save on paying out for a meter and test strips from Lloyd's.

Are you saying that cholesterol is always done at the same time as Hba1c?Why? If you ring your surgery and ask the receptionist she will tell you your last results, and if you ask for a print out she will give you one. You are entitled. At least you know it will be as accurate as they come.

Will do thanks.It is part of the NHS pathway for newly diagnosed or diabetics. I can't imagine it wasn't done at the same time as your diagnostic tests. However, don't take my word for it. Ring up and ask.
