Hi ladies, my dr receptionist called me today. My dr prescribed me 5mg folic as im type2 trying to conceive now that my levels are within normal range.
Ive been taking seven seas trying for a baby that has 4mg folic acid but also has vit d, b6 &12 aswell as iron etc...

Can i take both or will that be too much folic acid? Never had a chance to chat with gp and pharmacist wasnt sure.
Do u think i shud buy the other vits separately?

I dont want yo miss out on the other important ones
Thanks

Hiya I was told you couldn't have too much folic acid so another supplement was fine for me x

Just double check the pack @sugar-rush123 I think you''ll probably find that your Seven Seas has far less folic acid than that.

Most pregnancy vits that you can buy have 400µg - which is, I believe, 0.4mg so I far smaller amount than the 5mg you've been prescribed and is fine to take alongside the 5mg as it's such an insignificant extra amount.

I took a multivitamin and mineral throughout pregnancy

Hey I have been to my midwife today and she said when I stop taking my folic acid at 12 weeks then to switch to multi vitamin, we can't have too much folic

Thank you both, ive just looked and it says 400mcg so you are right! Cheers for that!

Wow thats a huge increase then i guess its not going to make much difference to take 0.4 extra
