Shingles and Diabetes ?

when we have chickenpox it leaves markers/virus in our system. When we are run down - which can be connected with stress it can reactivate as shingles. My mother had chicken pox when pregnant with my sister and so the markers were left in my sister even though she did not have it herself. When she was ill with measles it triggered shingles for her.

People don't get shingles by being in contact with someone with chicken pox= could be contact with any vrus or cold or just stress etc.
Hope you get better soon as it isn't nice.

This can certainly be "auto immune" condition typed .
My doctor says it is possible along with my diabetes/coeliac/hypothyroidism .
Plus I do have mito chondrial disease too (energy cells)
I was born with either too little of these or they were damaged .

All I can say - it is VERY painful (shingles that is)
Still got some sore painful patches of it .

Feel mentally brighter but have to do keep doing things in a little and often mode .
Still need and use the pain relief though and magic cream especially at night
only way I can relax and sleep .

Not abandoned thread at all - busy sleeping when pills/cream finally works .
Then mod duties (back yesterday - Sunday 8th march)
Little bit done often is best currently for myself .

Caught up with this thread now folks.

Welcome back @anna29 ....you need to get 100% better ...shingles is not nice ...

Doctor is running some immune system tests on me .
Loads of bloods were taken this morning and sent off today .
Form she had - had loads written on it from my doctor.

If it comes back with a positive finding - my doctor wants to
refer me 'back' to the specialist at the hospital .
Saw him in 2010 he was looking into Addisons and Cushings back then .
All tests came back normal 'then' so he let me go .
Only had one blood positive for something so they retested and it came back as normal .

Will wait and see what this lot of blood results are .
Take things easy little and often is best for me currently.

I`v been Type 1 for 33 years but I `v never caught chicken pox.. I went for a blood test last week, if the results are negative for the chicken pox virus I`v got to go back to my doctor for a chicken pox vaccination!
