Someone told me that diabetics should have a flu shot and some kind of vaccine but I don't remember what it was.

Dose anyone know if there any shots or vaccines diabetics should have because they are diabetics?

In the UK, vaccinations against influenza (flu) and pneumococcus (pneumonia) are recommended for people with diabetes:- https://www.diabetes.org.uk/Profess...ring/Influenza-and-Pneumococcal-vaccinations/

In the USA, in addition to the flu and pneumonia shots, hepatitis B vaccination is recommended as well:- http://www.diabetesforecast.org/2014/09-sep/top-3-vaccinations-adults.html

This document gives more detail about immunisations that may be beneficial for people with diabetes in the USA:- http://www.immunize.org/catg.d/p4043.pdf

It may be considered too late now for the flu vaccine. It usually starts end of Sept/beginning of Oct.

Pneumovax ll (2) is given at any time, and lasts for 10 years or so.

I highly recommend both, they are a wise decision health wise.

I get a fluvax every year, I have just had this years earlier this month.

I have had my pneumovax a few years back.
