My old ex boss had a two Jack Russell Terriers.. One of which was an insulin dependant diabetic... When it was diagnosed, he had no idea about diabetes other than what the vet had told him.. Which from my reckoning was not a lot. So this female dog had to be injected once a day in the scuff of the neck. & BG level checking involved running round the large garden catching it's pee on a test strip.... It must have cost him a fortune..?! Test results were not good... One of the few employers to know I was actually T1 myself. (He's been the only one..! Because of the bad pee test results the animal was due a review at the vets the following week. So I went round & had a look at this procedure with the hound & studying the test result looked at the diet.... There was enough carb in the tin of what most people would call dog meat alone. Then there were a load of biscuits mixed in too.. Cutting the biscuit mix seemed to do a reasonable job... I also taught him to look out for hypoglycaemia as well... & I learned something too... Understanding our fellow creatures.. Sort of on topic...? Lol
