As you will see, 6.2 is regarded as good control for a diabetic, but you may wish to try and do better than that. "Normal" is regarded as 5.9 or less. Should you want to try and achieve this, and many have managed it, you have a choice: meds or improved diet. Meds would probably be Metformin, which can have unpleasant side effects, though often short term. Improved diet would depend on what you are currently eating, but would probably require cutting down further on carbohydrates. Do you measure your own blood sugars before and after meals - this is perhaps essential for a while, if you are going to go down the improved diet route.
I should, of course, add that you should discuss this with your doctor, but maybe you have already done that and are seeking other opinions.
