should i check my blood sugar after walking ?

What were you before you went walking? Just testing after is a waste of time unless you know what you were when you started.

Checked around 3 oclock it was 11 , then had tea at six , went for a walk then checked at about eight forty five and couldn't get the meter to read it so tried twice more and it said 19.2
 
also trying to do lowish carb was given metformin but can't take it because of my mental health and phobias and have lost six lbs in a week. Was hoping the weight loss would ahve made a difference already . seems its worse lol,

I'm a stress head , i am going to check when i wake tomorrow and go from there , check after breakfast , I walk to my mums at 8.30 only a ten minute walk but won't check that but will before and after lunch and tea .

I don't check before and after meals ?

The best way forward is to test as follows:

Immediately before you eat each meal
2 hours after your first bite with no other food or drink in between

Keep a food diary and record your levels alongside the food eaten
Look at the difference from before and after.
Keep any rise under 2mmol/l.
If it is more than 2, there were too many carbs in that meal, which you need to either eliminate or reduce the portion.

You can also test first thing in the morning immediately you get up after washing hands, and just before you go to bed. But whenever you test, record the results and add any notes such as "walked 2 hours" or whatever.
 
I've also been awake since four this morning , and i have not slept well that could affect it maybe ?

From a quick look at your profile I notice you do not say what type of diabetic you are, either T1 or T2 either.

I have just started checking but i thought someone here said only check before and after exercise it was a question to him as i got confused .

type 2, i was sure i filled all that in , I will take a look. I;ve been type 2 for two years in March next year , i have had a set back big time its worse this time round and i am panicking .

Take some deep breaths. You can sort all this out if you test as I suggested above.
You can of course test before and after walking, just to see what effect walking has on your blood sugars, but it is FAR more important to test each me and record the results. That way you will learn which foods are causing the problem. I would suggest it is likely to be the oats, evaporated milk, honey, and the peas.
 
I ate haddock with swede oven chips with garden peas, and i ate blueberry crumble made with oats butter honey and had evaporated milk on it , that's going to be all wrong im guessing

That meal isn't ideal ... split the two issues. Test before and after meals and THEN before and after exercise

That would nicely explain your high. I wouldn't worry about the walking for the moment. Why not try to eat a little less carbs?
