Just a quick question from a newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic.

Should I inform my optician I have type 2 diabetes?

Cheers.
Paul.

Quick answer yes, next time you get your eyes tested tell them as you are entitled to a free eye test, a word of caution if you are newly diagnosed and your blood sugars have been high wait to get an eye test until your numbers are lower. High blood sugars change the shape of our eye, as your blood sugar comes down with your diet/meds then it reverts back, it can be an expensive mistake that a few including me have made

So if blood sugar levels change the shape of the eye could this explain why I have also been diagnose with Occular Migrains?

I’ve no idea about that sorry, but I remember I used to get those years ago before diagnosis- never connected the two before but you may well be right as suspect I was pre diabetic/T2 for quite a time before diagnosis

Nobody here can answer that.
