Yesterday I went for a med review with the practise nurse and she had the results of my blood tests and HbA1c which is 52 (last time it was 48). I asked her about Victoza but she told me its not licensed here in the UK??? and then said it was rubbish anyway and they wont prescribe me it. She wanted to put me back on Metformin again, though I refused as when I took it for 2 months last year it I had terrible stomach cramps and got caught short a few times.. She told me that the symptoms only last a few days so couldn't understand why I still felt that way after 2 months - I felt like I was being put on the spot. So she told me that there was nothing else they can give me for my higher glucose levels. She did say that my Cholesterol was 4 - was 7 last time.
She wants me back in 3 months to weigh and review my blood pressure meds again - wants to give me chance to lose some weight. I recently started dieting and have so far lost nearly a stone, I also aim to walk 10000 steps a day and I recently took up cycling - despite all this my blood sugars are still high and feel like I am being backed into a corner as regards to meds that I don't want to take (metformin).
I have had an appt with my DSN booked for a little while now, which is coming up in a week - should I still go and see her and discuss things with her or will she be likely to sing off the same sheet as the practise nurse?
