Should I take statins?

Type of diabetes

Hi All,
Not sure if I should start statins as I really do not want to,
My cholesterol is 5.3
Borderline so Doctor says.
Just wondering what other type 1's feel about them.
Been diabetic over 30 years.
Many thanks for any thoughts. x
