Should I try metformin? Advice needed

Det verkar alldeles utmärkt. Ett kul sätt att träffa nya vänner! Pratar du så bra som du skriver?
I do talk a lot, and in my teens, when I spent some time in Dublin, I was warned against kissing the Blarney stone.
You can hear I am Swedish, but I have no problems with spoken language when face to face. Phone is a bit more complicated though.

Ek is besig om na die verskilende post deur te gaan en ek sien dat die taal n biekie soos Afrikaans.
Translation: I am busy going through the various posts and see that the above language is similar in a way to Afrikaans from South Africa
Similar to German but closer to Dutch. I understand most of it, given time.

I have forgotten what "strunt" actually means, but I remember a poem by one of the great poets from the early 1900:

Strunt är strunt,
och snus är snus,
om än i gyllene dosor,
men rosor i ett sprucket krus
är ändå alltid rosor.

Someone added in the late 20th century:

En vacker dröm som blev till grus,
en illusion som brast
ty rosor i ett sprucket krus
kan vara utav plast

Could we use it as a forum word to describe anyone who deliberately tries to derail a thread? As soon as they start doing it, we all just type 'Struntprat!'
Possibly. I would translate it to "********" as in you talk ********. If we use struntprat instead people will know what we mean but a foreign word may not be as offensive.

I think I've just sabotaged the Word Association Game....

I am going to open up a new thread so we can discuss this in detail but you probably won't post now that I have taken the opportunity away to be subversive!

The word that was censured started with bull and ended with s**t.

It is now your duty to post on struntprat or I will look like a larry! You too equipoise!

Ik kann niet Afrikaans! Ik kann duits! I could pick out some words but not loads.

Back to the original idea...

I too have a very strong family history of diabetes and it wasn't until my current consultant that I began to get any treatment that worked for me!

But alot of my treatment was trial and error, I had a C-peptide test thst was positive but Metformin had little impact, we tried whole host of drugs, some had no effect, some dent me hypo and resulted on my husband calling an ambulance!

I'm currently taking Tolbutamide which I take with each meal, it's fast acting and to me is similar to taking short acting insulin, I also still take Metformin.

I'm currently waiting the results of a genetic test that my consultant hopes will tell us what type of genetic diabetes I have.

My advice: If you are a Monogenic diabetic most of the usual tests won't be very helpful. You need to see a consultant that understands that type of diabetes and can guide you through treatment. It's not always easy to get the right treatment, my bg reacted in extreme ways to some of the meds thst would not have happened in a normal type 2. Have patience and be willing to trial things before dismissing the idea.

I can´t tell you how flattered I am to hear that you think I live in the UK. I am Swedish.
Unless there's something noticeable in the nickname or profile, I just assume UK - I'll try to pay more attention.
