Hi All exprenced ones ...
I need advice on my sugar levels .. I have been LCHF for 11 months .. Taken off of Metformin and losing a good amount of weight steadly .. Now the other day as a big treat I had a wholemeal cheese and homemade coleslaw sandwich .. A whole 2 slice sarnie .. Now some time ago this same sarin pushed my sugars in to high 9's .. But this time before eating I was 5.0 and 2 hrs after I was 5.2 did several strips test to make sure it's not a strip problem, and they read almost the same 5.3 and 5.2 again ... So is this ok for a reading or am I not increasing enought at the 2 hr point ? Is this turning into T1 ..... Help please .. Starting to worry .. I do feel fit and well ...

Personally, I'd say you're making great progress. A small rise like that is great. You can't come to any conclusions based on one reading.

If you see this all the time, it might be time to think you're maybe even licking this diabetes. If you had increasingly high numbers I'd be more inclined to be concerned.

Thanks for the quick response ... I can breath now ... I am normally seeing mid 4's before eating and mid 5'a at the 2 hrs point .. But as this was so close before and after with so many carbs I was worried .. If it had been one of my next to no carbs it would have not been a worry ... 11 months in and I still have lots to learn

You should probably repeat the exercise, with the same menu, for the day if you can. You could have been dropping sharply as you ate, and therefor your "rise" may have been absorbed by a lower score you simply didn't see.

But, frankly, in my view, absolutely nothing to be concerned about.

Fantastic .. Thank you .. Will get the wife to make more coleslaw .. Thank you .. Thought for a moment I was starting to become a T 1 ... I always have the same breakfast.. So will try again today

Hi, Enclave
I think that you are going in the opposite direction to someone with T1, ie you are getting better pancreatic function (and/or your body is getting better able to use the insulin) Your body is doing what it should di.
If I ate anything without insulin my glucose levels would end up far higher than 5.1! . For a hypo, one dextrose tablet with only 4g carbs will raise my glucose level by just over a mmol/l .
Have a look at some of the spikes on the Libre thread and you'll see that the rises at the 2 hour mark even with insulin are far higher than 9.

Hi Enclave I occasionally have a lower reading 2 hours after eating (inc porridge) which makes me retest as well. I just assumed that it meant that I was getting better at tolerating some carbs

Thank you, I am not the luckiest person health wise .. So panicked! My general readings are mid 4's then up to mid 5's 2hrs after eating .. Just worried that as the spike was not so high something had stopped working !
What would I do with out theses forums

when it stops working you get high readings, you are doing very well and seem to have a normal BG response
