I've had something similar where my arms would go all numb. Ended up being a trapped nerve which hypo made worst. Diabetes makes our nerves a bit more sensitive (ok make that very sensitive). Have you tried seeing a physio to release any muscle tension on the shoulders? that can block the nerves or at least cause pressure on them which could effect your arms.

Hi -I had shoulder weakness -both shoulders frozen in fact, for two years - until I started taking B12 because of fogginess and depression and memory loss. Metformin and a huge operation meant that I was low and I now take B12 as a supplement every day and the minute I started taking them I started to feel better, and within 3 months my shoulders were moveable. I still have some pain when reaching up but the mobility has improved 100 percent. Try it - there is no way you can overdoseon it apparently and Itake 1000mg every day. If I don't take it, I stutter, I get forgetful and I can't think straight and I also noticed that my shoulders get a little more restricted. It won't hurt to try and I use the sublingual ones that you pop under your tongue as the metformin often makes me sick, and this means they go straight in to the blood.

Yep, same here. Vitamin B complexes combined with very specific muscle group weight training with light weights seem to have done the trick. i have no idea if this was really anything to do with diabetes though, I have some arthritis problems with shoulders and knees but I am finding that working the muscle groups in those areas to support the joint properly and realign where neccesary is saving me a fortune in anti inflammatory creams etc.

What I learned is that the shoulder is a very complex joint, not really a ball and socket joint but a collection of articulated bones only held together and aligned by various muscles in the back, chest, arms and chest. If these become weakened or out of balance with each other then all kinds of problems can ensue, tears, inflammation and joint damage. Definitely be worth going to an osteopath or sports injury clinic about this as the exercises involved are not difficult or strenuous and I found it worked to eliminate the problem quite quickly in my case - the only equipment I needed were two 5lb dumbbells and a chart of the exercises. When I started I could not get my elbow up even to shoulder height, now I have full mobility again and no pain.
