The BBC has done little profiles of 100 "influential and inspirational" women around the world; I think they do it every year.
One of the women they've chosen is Helen Taylor Thompson. I must confess to never having heard of her but, frankly I should have done. She worked for the SOE during the 2nd World War and was responsible for setting up the first AIDS Hospice in the UK, through her efforts in keeping the Mildmay Hospital in London open, after Government funding was withdrawn. It appears that she has an OBE but, really, she should be a Dame of the British Empire in my opinion.
