Sick again. Any ideas why?

Hi shygirl

I felt like that a few weeks ago I woke one friday morning and striped my bed sheets the when i got down stairs i felt terrible hot sweaty and dizzy, i done my sugar test but it was at 14, i could'nt face eating anything, i went and layed down for a while which made me feel abit better, but when i got up my stomach felt as if i was on a rollercoaster all i could face drinking was water and squash. I managed some toast at lunchtime which was a struggle. I felt abit better by the afternoon but by the evening i felt so tired as if i had no sleep i could'nt keep my eyes open. When i layed down and closed my eyes i felt so much better, when i woke up saturday i felt fine to this day i put it down to dehydration or something and touch wood it has'nt happened since.

Ask the dr if it could be the metformin? The whole time I was on metformin about once a month or so (not connected with periods though) I was ill in the night a few hours after I'd last taken metformin, with terribly bloated stomach (it actually felt hard) which was painful, and then I would be sick after a while, it would be fine in the morning though. This happened once after I started insulin, it made me hypo (because nothing was being digested the nurse said) so the dr said to stop the metformin, I haven't been ill like that again since. The doctor said it was the metformin, but didn't say why it only happened at night, and never after lunch time metformin.

Could have been to do with how much you had eaten before the lunch time dose compared to the evening dose, or something to do with your digestion system slowing down over night, compared to the active afternnon?

I have had problems being sick with Metformin only ever in early hours of the morning and only every 3 weeks or so .GP suggested that it could be caused by reflux because I had been lying down.He didnt know why it only happened about 3 weeks apart though. One out of 2 is not bad though :!:

Shygirl,

As it could be a multitude of conditions I think its time you seen your gp and discuss this with them, perhaps they may refer you to see gastroenterologist for further investigations into your condition. It could well be something simple as meds or diet related, but nonetheless it's best that you seek medical attention now rather than wait and let your condition worsen.

Nigel is right, you need to go and see a dr. It could be a simple explanation and fix!
I had problems with tummy pain, being sick and bloating which turned out to be a food intolerance which is a simple fix! But you won't know till you see someone.
Hope you feel better soon. Being sick is no fun.....

Sounds a bit like my grandson who then found that he was sceliac. Worth mentioning to your GP

Hi, you sound just like me... I tend to put off going to the drs. Hating to sound like I am whining.
If it is painful go, it could be as simple as cutting something out of your diet. Is it worth suffering for that.
My gran used to say 'a stitch in time saves nine" she was a wise (If a little grumpy) old bird!
Please get it checked and get better soon.
