side effect with walking

Please can anyone help me with the following side effect problem? The situation in a nutshell -
I was diagnosed Type 2 about 15 years ago. The medication (Gliclazide, Linagliptin and Metformin), introduced about 5 years ago because of my age, seems to taking the skip out of my step and I can't walk properly. In fact I am reduced to hobbling around slowly - it's hard work and very tiring!
There are no problems with my joints, but my legs don't feel like they belong to me as I have always normally been a brisk walker which in the first decade of my diagnosis was an advantage in keeping my blood sugar levels normal. I am told by my Doctors that they have never heard of this side effect symptom.
Recently I risked leaving the medication off for 24 hours as a trial - it was so good, I felt so fit and healthy and my legs were back to normal.
Now in my mid 80's I really don't want to give up walking and exercise, but the medication seems to be making things very difficult - has anyone got any thoughts or had experience of this that may help?? Thanks.

If I were you I would tell your doctor you felt better without the meds, and ask whether they think you should go off them.

I'm in my 40s and have only had T2 diabetes for a few years so my knowledge may be fairly limited. I'm happy to be corrected by others who know more. The information I have gleaned from here and elsewhere is that oral meds can be used for many years but after some time it may be appropriate to go onto insulin, in order to maintain BG control. I have no idea if this general practice is relevant to your situation, but it just seems logical to me that if the side effects of your oral meds are really problematic, and you can get the same benefits with insulin instead, that it might be a good idea.

Or I could be way off base with this. Either way I think you really need to ask you doctor about the risks and benefits of your oral meds for you at this time.
