I just today discovered this video by Nutrition Made Simple. For me, the greatest Aha! moment since I belatedly came upon the low carb regime. It answers a question I've been perplexed about: how to measure visceral fat without resorting to a Dexa scan or similar. It's excess visceral fat which is toxic, leading to various diseases including diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure. It goes a way to explain thin Type 2 diabetics and chubby people who are metabolically healthy. BMI is useless for this, and waist measurement ratio doesn't distinguish between visceral and subcutaneous fat. So thank you, Nutrition Made Simple. Every GP and diabetic nurse should use this test instead of the BMI.
