Hi, Ive been a member for a long while but this is my first post- hoping for guidance please
Im a type 2 diabetic diagnosed 2008, started on medication 2013.
I have been unwell for a couple of weeks, abdo pain, pyrexia, nausea, vomiting, headaches, lethargy, poor appetite- GP tested me for h pylori but results came back negative (I also have a history of a fatty liver and gallstones) Liver function tests were surprisingly ok as were U+E's
HBA1c came back at 91!!! Other bloods ok
Gp swapped alogliptin 25mg to Sitagliptin 100mg to be taken alongside my metformin 1500mg
Its only been 3 days of treatment with Sitagliptin 100mg/day but this mornings bm before breakfast was 14.5, before lunch was 14.1 and now (pre- tea time) is 16.5. I feel so tired.
I had tinned chicken soup for lunch as it was the only food I could face.
Im trying to drink as much water as I can
Any advice please on how long it should take for the sitagliptin to take effect?
I have another appointment to see the GP in 4 days time, its the earliest appointment I can get
It may be that I have an underlying infection pushing my sugars up, or maybe the other way around and my high blood sugar is giving me the above symptoms as my HBA1c at 91 reflects its been high for the past 10-12 weeks
Previous issues with dietary compliance, this has now scared me into having some self control around food
I have eaten very little for the past 2 weeks
I feel terrible
