Slightly raised BG

Over the last couple of days I seem to have slightly higher BG, up to about 0.5 higher than normal. I am eating the same as usual but have slight sore throat, could this be the reason? Or the plant sterols I have just started taking ( ingredients don't have any carbs or sugar)

Examples please? .5 is very small, well within meter variance range. So not a worry.
Infections can be expected to raise BG, yes.

Well I usually stay within the 5's during the day and I am usually mid 5's to mid 6's going to bed but over the past few days I have barely seen a 5 and yesterday at bedtime it was 7.1, about two and a half - 3 hours after dinner. Fasting this morning was 6.5 so very slightly up as normally around 5.8-6.2. Today has been a fasting day, as I do intermittent fasting, and normally I will be around 5.3- 5.8 before dinner today I was 6.2.
I know it is only slightly up but just wondering if it likely to be my body fighting a sore throat or the plant sterols I have started taking to reduce my cholesterol, although I have read that they can actually bring levels down. I am still learning how things affect my blood sugars.

I don't know about plant sterols but if I get a cold my average BS rises by up to 1.0. I assume it's the same for you.

I tend to agree with @DeejayR who's beaten me to it - I'd started to reply then went off to watch something I wanted to see onTV.

Such small rises may well just be meter variation, and IMO aren't really enough to be concerned about. Levels can rise with changes in health (amongst other things) so that may well be the cause, but regarding sterols your guess is as good as mine.
