Slimfruits, acacia gum, polyols

Hi

I found some sweets in Holland and Barret today, called slimfruits, they are made from acacia gum and sucralose, which I understand to be a derivative of sugar. However they have less than 0.2 g carbs per 100g, 40 g fibre and 50g of something called polyols. Are polyols a form of sugar? Could I expect them to have an adverse affect on my blood sugar? I appreciate that sweets aren't an ideal item in a diabetic diet, but I am only human after all..... They are in a 24 g box, and they are pricey (£1.89), so I won't be shoveling them in.

Any help appreciated

Suck 'em and see.
Polyols aren't carbs as I understand them. The xylitol sweetener I use is 100% polyol carbs but apparently doesn't matter (unless you're a dog, in which case xylitol will poison you).
I can't see any harm in slimfruits so get a meter if you haven't already and test them out.

Cheers DeejayR. I will do just that. Fortunately I'm not a dog, probably wouldn't be diabetic if I was, some one else would be in control of the food!
