Type 2 Slow release metformin problem help please

Hi I was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes
I was started on metformin which did not help so I was put on gliclazide as well
The metformin made me sick so I was put onto the slow release metformin
I started off on these ok but have now started being sick again this always happens at night about 4-5 hours after I have eaten and then I am sick bring back my food as it was eaten I also have had watery diarrhoea as well today
I checked my blood sugar level a few days ago and it said 25.8 mmol ?
Does anybody else have this problem or can give me any advice please

Hi @traceysteven ,

I'm afraid that some people just cannot cope with Metformin, even the slow release type. I feel that you need to be thinking about going back to the doc' with this.

What are your levels now? I've never gone DKA since diagnosis 40 years ago but symptoms from excessively high BS include vomiting..?!

Someone put me right if wrong...

Good point, but the diarrhoea pointed me towards the Metformin issue. Of course having blood glucose levels of 25.8mmol is not good whatever the reason.

You said 'a few days ago' @traceysteven , how often are you testing? Have your levels come down now?
 
Hi I got worse with the sickness and diahorea got to 2 days ago I stopped taking the slow release metformin but kept taking the gliclazide the symptoms I had have now stopped I had a blood test last week for my diabetes but couldn't get in to see a doctor
So I am waiting for results to come back then I will get in to see the doctor and review my Meds
I have just checked my levels and it as gone down to 21.1
