slow release (or MR) Metformin

I read that FDA in USA banned a slow release Metformin as it was carcinogenic. Does any one have more information? Did they ban all brands of slow release Metformin or one produced by a particular manufacturer? Is that brand used still in UK? Do side effects of Slow release Metformin vary depending on the brand?

Usually brands do differ, but here I can't be sure, as it's a by-product of the manufacturing process that's the problem. If you're worried about it, try going low carb. Fewer side effects.
