Fasting overnight bloods 5.
Ate about 1/4 of a plum tested 1/2 hour later 7.8, could not believe a small piece of plum hardly any carbs could send my BG up that much!!! I am not so sure I have got the hang of this, I thought I would see the same 5!!!

You might have been catering for a liver dump as well as a quarter of a plum. Starting your testing experiments using a fasting reading has pitfalls.

Also, half an hour after eating isn't telling you much unless you follow it up with further tests at an hour and 2 hours. Everyone will spike between eating and 90 minutes, including non-diabetics. The secret is to get back down to base as quickly as possible, hopefully by 2 hours. Sometimes 2.5 hours depending on what you have eaten.

Yes, it is a lot to take in, and very overwhelming at first. We have all been there, but trust me, it will fall in to place eventually. :)
