Hi

Just a quick question. Just got my afternoon cup of tea at work, not that complicated i know, but to go with it now that I have diabetes i often have a couple of cheddars instead of a biscuit as I sometimes just need someting. Not perfect i know.

I does seem a silly question when compared to some of the more importent ones that are asked, but are a couple of cheddars ok as a quick snack?

Neil

Neil,

Depends on the carb content and how much you are willing to let your bg rise.

Nigel

Could you swap your cheddars for a piece of cheese? that would keep the carbs low? or do you need a biscuity something?

They are about 2 g of carbs per biscuit. I don't know what a biscuit weighs but for such a small biscuit it is a bit high. 2 biscuits are not going to make a lot of difference, but there are lots of better things to eat.

Such as, small apple, clementine orange, peanuts, any nuts, a slice of low carb bread, meat slices, tuna fish (in a can), hard boiled egg and so on.

A slice of cheese might be better, gouda, edam, cheddar etc.

Neil,

As hallii says at 2g of carbs per cheddar I wouldn't worry about it either and would eat and enjoy them as a treat.

Thanks for the replies. love the idea of cheese as a snack, trouble is I love the stuff and already try and have a few cheese free days a week to keep the cholesteral down. Apples are a good idea, I think I'll give them a go and mix it up a bit with the cheddars.

Neil, strawberries and blueberries are excellent and low-carb too.

Cheers Nigel

Already on the Bluberries and Strawberries. Eating Blueberries right now. Nice pudding. Have to wait till summer for the strawberries though, those Morrocan ones just arn't the same.

Thanks for staying on the case though.

You ain't lying. All of the best Strawb's I've ever had have been bought from the road-side in the British Summer!

Strawberries are so easy to grow even in a window box or patio planter and absolutely nothing tastes like a home grown fresh picked fruit warm from the sun .Roll on summer

Your not wrong Neil, went to Asda to stock up on blueberries and strawberries on the weekend, the blueberries are lovely and sweet but the strawberries had a bitter taste and were really quite hard too.
